Ferrari 612 ScagliettiFerrari honors its longtime body manufacturer with the successor to the 456GT. The Scaglietti has an aluminum body and space frame. Its 5.75L V-12 is shared with the 575M. The Scaglietti aims to brilliantly blend solid performance with touring characteristics in a true four seat vehicle. 612 Scaglietti replaces the 456 in Ferraris lineup. A pure infusion of power is provided by a 5.8L V12. The interior seats four. But first, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti performance: 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of almost 200 mph (199 to be exact). This is a V12 6 liter 6 speed automatic monster. The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is named for famed 1950s and 1960s Ferrari stylist and coachbuilder Sergio Scaglietti, but this model was designed by Pininfarina. The 612 Scaglietti is the first 12-cylinder Ferrari with an all-aluminum space frame chassis and body; although it’s a front-engine car, its 46/54 weight distribution means it handles like the company’s mid-engine offerings. Italian culture runs through the veins of the greater part of major markets. Italian food, leathers, suits and jewelry are a must have. And why would their cars be indifferent to this phenomenon? Ferrari’s are like Kama Sutra, where the art of love is much more than the act itself. For fifty years, world car enthusiasts have been transfixed by the design and engineering talent the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti offers. The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is also the first Ferrari equipped with the company's latest stability and traction control system. It also features scalloped sides, which have not appeared since film director Roberto Rossellini commissioned a 375 MM for actress Ingrid Bergman. A choice of two transmissions transfers power to the rear transaxle. Standard is a six-speed manual transmission and optional is an F1-style electro hydraulic gearbox operated via shift paddles on the steering wheel. Despite a curb weight that crests two tons in Europe, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is extremely fast, especially for a car primarily designed to carry you around in aristocratic comfort. The 612’s appearance— despite an overall length of nearly 16 feet— is smoother, suppler and far less aggressive than all of its many predecessors. Since most of the esteemed drivers who have the chance to drive a Ferrari do not actually get to do it at the famed Ferrari headquarters, you will also be delighted to know that the 612 Scaglietti is just as fun in public. It will make you want to control its raw power from its supple leather bucket seats all day long. Speaking of which, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti's handcrafted leather seats and interior are brightened with pressed or solid aluminum trim. Features include a dual-zone climate control system, 612-exclusive Bose CD player with six-channel digital unit, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and antitheft alarm. A six-speed manual transmission can be optioned to an F1A (for Automatic) gearbox. The comfortably roomy interior, which comes courtesy of the very efficient chassis, will mean that the occupants get to experience the clean, thrilling roar of the Ferrari V12. The “612” is lighter, bigger and roomier than the retired 456M. Despite comfortable upholstery, the Ferrari 612 Scagilietti is still quite minimalistic and sporty. Also, you will find that pictures don't quite do this poetic piece of machinery justice— the two front wings that extend beyond the front bumper look far more purposeful in the metal, creating a sort of deeply purposeful catamaran-esque double-prow effect that's really quite attractive. Italian super car-maker Ferrari built its reputation as much on the track as it has on the street, but that doesn't mean it can't compete for top design honors as well. Humans despise things that are easily acquired. The vernacular in this case is Italian inspiration. And by now we all know that Ferrari is to the auto world what SAKS Fifth is to department stores. The 612 Scaglietti is for super spenders who crave intense passion when they drive.
